2025-2026 Back-To-School Letter

We hope you have had a rewarding, fulfilling, and fun summer!  There is still plenty of summer left, but we are excited to get started with another great school year and wanted to make sure you have the necessary information for planning purposes!  As we look forward to the startup of school there are some dates and reminders, we want to make you aware of.  First, we would like to remind you to register your student for the 2025-2026 school year on the Lincoln County School District #2 website if you haven’t already.  A copy of the approved calendar is on the district website as well.

As typical, in person registration is where you will pay fees, check lockers, adjust schedules if needed and take care of any additional paperwork.  High school students will be receiving Macbook Air devices.  We received some good feedback last year and are restructuring the registration process to registering all students from your family at the same time rather than by grade level.

CHS what is new:

  1. CHS was awarded a renovation to our weight room this summer. We appreciate Lincoln County School District #2’s support in creating additional opportunities for our students.  Our main gym is also getting new score boards and shot clocks.  1A won’t transition to being required to use shot clocks by WHSAA until the 2026-2027 school year, but this will provide time for the transition to occur smoothly.
  2. CHS will be adding some new classes this year: Psychology, Sociology, Small engines and roadside, 7th & 8th grade combine literacy class, a restructured building trades class, and a restructured senior capstone course.  We are excited about the new opportunities these classes will provide our students.

Our dress code and handbook are changed slightly based on feedback from student leadership, CHS faculty, a parent advisory group, and administration.  Based on this some adjustments have been made:

  1. Students would be able to wear shorts that are mid-thigh (between the knee and bottom of the crotch) for the first four weeks of school and the last four weeks of school.
  2. This year our cell phone practice has been adjusted. Students would silence and turn in cell phones each class period to a storage area.  Students would have access to cell phones before school, during passing periods, at lunch, after school, and during emergencies.  This adjustment is being made to preserve instructional time and focus during class periods.
  3. CHS is no longer restricting the number of earrings in each ear unless earrings are excessive or distracting and will allow a nose stud in one nostril.

CHS is excited to welcome:

  1. Carter Smith as our new shop teacher. We are excited about his passion to continue the great aspects of our CTE program and improve in certain areas.  We are excited to be offering a small engines/roadside class this year under his direction!
  2. Hattie Cox as our new junior high language arts teacher who will also cover the yearbook and our restructured senior capstone class.
  3. Mya Thornock as our new art teacher at CHS. Thornock is very passionate about art and the power of art in making a positive impact on the lives of our students.  She will bring a background allowing her to continue with different mediums of art Mrs. Payne built on and bring additional art mediums of art to expand our students’ experiences.

Counseling:

We will be restructuring our counselor time to make Mrs. Lester more available at CHS.  Mrs. Lester will be hosting a lunch group each day during lunch which will provide students a space to play games, eat lunch, and interact in the room next to the art room during lunch.  Mrs. Lester will also be helping with some school-wide projects and expanding additional opportunities during daily related to leadership and other topics.

Character education:

We were awarded a grant to provide students with character education opportunities that will occur during daily once or twice each month.  Ms. Bennington will be creating the opportunities that CES teachers and CHS teachers will facilitate during daily in coordination with Mr. Thomas.  This will provide our high school students with more opportunities to learn about character education.

Dress Code – Thank you for purchasing school clothes with the dress code in mind.  If you have any questions, please refer to the student handbook that can be found online at www.cokeville.com.  As you purchase shorts for approved short days, please be sure to get shorts that are close to knee length.

We are excited to work with you in the coming school year.   Let’s make 2025-2026 a great school year!!
